About
Airplane Reading is a home for nonfiction stories shaped by flight—quiet, funny, mundane, or just plain strange. Our aim is to rejuvenate the experience of air travel one story at a time.
Books
Culled from the web venue Airplane Reading, this “best of” gathers essays and stories about air travel from writers, airline workers, and everyday travelers. Discerning and full of wonder, the collection moves from irreverent to philosophical to earnest, each piece a journey in itself. Together, they illuminate the ordinary and uncanny world of flight.

From the editors of Airplane Reading comes an ideal travelmate: Checking In/Checking Out. This reversible book features one side narrated by a former United Airlines employee, and another side narrated by a lifelong aerophobe. By turns sharp, funny, and sincere, this little gem cuts through the routines of travel to expose what’s actually at stake in getting from one place to another.
